Annebet Philips is a furniture and lighting designer from Amsterdam. She designs products for her own label as well as for other companies. She enjoys playing with the conventional and likes putting familiar or archetypal shapes or thoughts in a new perspective.
By conceptual thinking, by mixing traditional forms and by using non traditional colors and materials she is passionate about creating inspiring, surprising designs that challenge you to look at things differently.
Together with a clear, graphic and personal handwriting you get playful designs that that are ‘iconic in a new way’ and hide an original twist. During Dutch Design Week Annebet will present a few items that represent her studio. Next tot that she will show some new work. The main focus will be on lighting.
Annebet lives and works in Amsterdam, in a light and bright space with canal view. Her studio and livingspace are connected. Because her workspace and home are connected, and sometimes the entire living space becomes workspace, she is always surrounded by "all her stuff". Not only the inspiring things that she has collected, but also the art on the wall, the books on the shelves or the souvenirs collected during travels etc. The fact that when she's working she's surrounded by all the things she likes influences her and it might be the reason why her work reflects a very personal style.
